Hi, I'm Sakke! A father of four from Helsinki. Foiling Shop started out of a passion for foiling, which has revolutionized my own surfing life. Or actually my whole life. Maybe it was a mid-forties crisis or something similar when I realized that I enjoyed being on the water, especially standing on a board. When you combine that with the possibility of flying, I was sold. I've been foiling for years and have shared my journey on Instagram (see @foilingshop_com ). I strongly believe that foiling is the key to Finnish surfing: it works even in small waves and light winds, even in calm conditions. Exactly the conditions that we have in Finland.

In foiling, I am fascinated by flying on a foil and the light gliding it enables on the water. With foiling, you can utilize the surrounding wave and wind energy in an incredible way. Compared to other board sports, such as SUP or windsurfing, I feel that I have found a special and much more efficient way of moving in the water that only a small group of people know. Perhaps the feeling of foiling could be compared to cycling: when you pedal your bike for the first time after a long winter, walking and running feel like a sticky crawl compared to a rolling glide.

Foiling allows you to glide on the water in almost any weather, and it opens up a whole new way to enjoy nature and exercise. My goal is to get the entire Finnish people on the water, after all, we live in a country of thousands of lakes.

Remember that this sport is year-round! The same equipment can be used in winter as well. You can use the power of the wing to move on snow and ice, but especially in southern Finland, open water can be found almost all year round.
