Hi, I'm Sakke! A father of four from Helsinki. Foiling Shop began from a passion for foiling, which has revolutionized my own surf life. Or rather, my entire life. Maybe it was a midlife crisis or something similar when I realized I enjoyed being on the water, especially standing on a board. When you combine that with the ability to fly, I was sold. I've been foiling for years and have shared my journey on Instagram (check out @foilingshop). I strongly believe that foiling is the key to Finnish surfing: it works in small waves and light winds, even on completely calm water. Precisely the conditions we have plenty of here in Finland.

What fascinates me about foiling is flying on a foil and the effortless glide it enables on the water. With a foil, you can harness the surrounding wave and wind energy in an incredible way. Compared to other board sports, like SUP or windsurfing, I feel like I've discovered a special and little-known method for moving through water much more efficiently. Perhaps the feeling of foiling could be compared to cycling: when you pedal a bike into motion for the first time after a long winter, walking and running feel like sticky crawling compared to the rolling glide.

With foiling, you can glide on the water in almost any weather, and it opens up a whole new way to enjoy nature and exercise. My goal is to get all of Finland on the water, after all, we live in the land of a thousand lakes.

Remember, this sport is year-round! The same equipment can also be used in winter. You can move on snow and ice with wing power, and especially in southern Finland, open water is available almost all year round.
